Ayurveda

Originating in India more than 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda in Sanskrit means “The Science of Life.” This ancient practice places great emphasis on disease prevention using powerful herbs to “cleanse” the body, boost defense against disease and keep the mind, body and spirt in balance.

The root of Ayurvedic science is based on the five elements; ether, air, fire, water and earth. This unique combination of elements come together to make up what is called “the doshas”—a type of energy with three distinct qualities; vata (ether & air) , pitta (fire & water) and kapha (earth & water).

DOSHAS

Each dosha has a number of corresponding qualities that are expressed in the physical, emotional and mental aspects of one’s being. For example, a pitta person usually has a muscular body, a strong digestive system and can mostly tolerate any food. The pitta is strengthened by pungent, salty and sour flavors and distressed by bitter, astringent and sweet flavors.

All people have these three doshas, but one is usually primary, one secondary and the third is usually least prominent. The cause of disease in Ayurveda is due to an imbalance of vata, pitta or kapha. This imbalance can stem from one’s emotional state, physical trauma, diet or seasonal influences.

HERBS

Ayurvedic herbs and foods play an important part in balancing one's dosha. The herbs included in Groovy Green Goat provide synergy for all three. Our formula includes cinnamon, turmeric, fennel, ginger and triphala. These herbs boost the immune system, support mental clarity and focus, calm the nerves, improve digestion, protect the body from toxins and support the detoxification process.
